The Revenge of Cobra, Part 1:
In the Cobra's Pit

6th of 10 Sunbow episodes before Season 1. Written by Ron Friedman. First aired September 14, 1984.

Preceded by: The Revenge of Cobra Opening Sequence
Next episode: The Revenge of Cobra, Part 2

Cobra attacks a G.I. Joe convoy transporting a laser-powered energy source, stealing the object and capturing Duke and Snake-Eyes. However, Cobra Commander is captured in the attack and taken to Blackwater Prison. Nearby, Zartan kidnaps Col. Sharp and impersonates him at the prison, freeing Cobra Commander and disappearing into the swamps.

The Joes pursue Cobra in Skystrikers, but at Cobra's temple base Destro activates his new Weather Dominator to create a tornado, causing Flint, Mutt, and Roadblock to crash in the Pit of Chaos. Cobra Commander returns to the Cobra temple and the laser core is installed in the Weather Dominator, allowing them to tamper with the weather across the world. Meanwhile, the Joes in the Pit of Chaos are assaulted by creeper vines that grow deadly from the rain.
