Animated Appearances

To my knowledge, Joe agents with this appearance were never animated, but the Sunbow and DiC series both featured generics in various outfits, the most famous of which more closely resemble the G.I. Joe Troopers released in 2008.

When the G.I. JOE Team is on a mission, it is crucial that they keep in contact with each other and with their base of operations. Vital information, delivered and transmitted clearly and quickly, can make the difference between a successful mission against COBRA, and one that ends badly. Communications specialists are there to operate and repair every piece of equipment that gathers, transmits, and relays information, including radios, computers, and more. Communication specialist recruits study the "guts" of these machines to know how they work, learn their optimal uses in various situations, and develop their skills to patch them up and rig them for unconventional scenarios that require unique solutions.

To get the G.I. JOE Team to their next mission against COBRA forces, they need transportation. It's the job of the vehicle specialists to provde the team with the best mode of transport for a given operation. They are at home behind the wheel and ride these vehicles with the skill and stamina of a racecar driver and the courage of a true soldier. It's also their responsibility to keep the vehicles in prime operating condition. True gear heads, vehicle specialists love to tinker with their vehicles to customize them with powerful weaopns and other battle-ready features to give COBRA an unpleasant surprise in battle.

Marksman specialists are there for the G.I. JOE Team when specific COBRA targets need to be acquired and neutralized. Marksmen are the team members who deliver long-range precision fire at selected targets from concealed positions. Recruits in training to be marksman specialists learn fieldcraft techniques and how to gauge distances. They constantly practice their marksmanship skills to perfect their accuracy and hit the target precisely, first round, every time. They also must develop the patience, stamina, and discipline to be still for long periods of time, while remaining ready to take advantage of the right moment whenever it presents itself.

The backbone of any military force is the infantry, and the G.I. JOE Team has infantry specialists to lead this valuable part of their force. Recruits wishing to become infantry specialists learn the art of battle and how infantry units can best be mobilized to achieve victory. They must know about mobilization, armaments, organization, and training—all the elements necessary to create a top-notch fighting force that is ready, willing, and able to defeat the COBRA enemy. Infantry specialists are well-versed in intricate details of attack and defense, and they study how COBRA fights, to anticipate their next moves and develop assault strategies.

Recruits work with every weapon constantly and intensely, so that they will know every bolt and barrel on sight. They learn the best applications of each weapon in different situations. When COBRA forces are bearing down on the team and they need powerful fire support, the heavy weapons specialists take aim and blast their weapons until the enemy retreats. They also develop the expertise for in-field repairs and modifications to make sure the team has optimum weaponry for any engagement.

Counter intelligence specialists are experts at finding out information on COBRA forces that the enemy doesn't want them to know and works hard to conceal. Recruits who aspire to be counter intelligence specialists for the G.I. JOE Team learn the art of uncovering sources, following obscure trails of information, evaluating intelligence for its reliability, and establishing its implications for the team. Recruits develop their skills at observation and analysis, and look for hidden motivations and reasons for events. COBRA likes to throw out twists and tangles to confuse the G.I. JOE Team, but the counter intelligence specialists use their sharp eyes and shrewd minds to uncover the truth.
