The Revenge of Cobra, Part 4:
Battle on the Roof of the World

9th of 10 Sunbow episodes before Season 1. Written by Ron Friedman. First aired September 14, 1984.

Previous episode: The Revenge of Cobra, Part 3
Next episode: The Revenge of Cobra, Part 5

Lady Jaye rescues Shipwreck and Gung-Ho from the crevice, and after a stalemate, Spirit saves the life of Storm Shadow and receives the ion correlator in return. Both Joe and Cobra then evacuate the Island of No Return as it is destroyed by magma erupting from the ocean floor. As Maj. Bludd returns with the hydromaster, Joe, Cobra, and Zartan all travel to the Roof of the World intent on recovering the laser core.

Roadblock and Honda Lou are taken inside Cobra Temple and quickly captured, and they are placed in the Arena of Sport alongside Duke and Snake Eyes. In the arctic, Joe and Cobra fight on ice for the laser core, but Zartan swipes the fragment and disappears, leaving the Joes buried in an avalanche.

Misc. Notes

  • Time references for this episode do not include the opening recap. For recordings with the recap, add 2 minutes, 20 seconds.
  • On the DVDs from Shout! Factory, this episode is included in the Season 1.1 set (Disc 2, Episode 4).
  • With the Joes in the opening scene are a handful of generics in green camouflage. Such a use of generic Joes (aside from the usual greenshirts) would be a rare but occasional feature during the show's first season.
  • This is the first episode not to feature the first appearance of any characters or equipment from the toy line.
  • The 2008 release of the DVD with related figures (Destro, Lady Jaye, and Roadblock) included both the Weather Dominator and a set of creeper vines.
