The Sludge Factor, Part 29th of 20 episodes in DiC season 2. Written by Ted Pedersen and Steve Hayes. First aired October 8, 1991.Previous episode: The Sludge Factor, Part 1 Next episode: Messenger from the Deep |
While Clean-Sweep develops a neutralizing agent, Hawk leads a search for the captured Flint in Cesspool's junkyard. Flint is nowhere to be found, and the ensuing battle releases a toxic storm. Clean-Sweep arrives, and the Joes round up the Sludge Vipers and begin cleaning up the site. With Cobra's help, Cesspool begins turning the world into a toxic wasteland, ostensibly to drive up food prices for Cobra. But Flint, having escaped captivity, overhears Cesspool's plan to explode Cobra's volcano base, creating a toxic rainfall that will destroy the earth's food supply entirely.
Flint puts in a call to the Joes and warns Cobra Commander, shortly before Cesspool's bombs go off inside the volcano. The Joes soon arrive, using De-Tox to neutralize the sludge, transforming it into a rich fertilizer, while Flint locates the last bomb. It explodes before he can reach it, and all sides evacuate as the entire island erupts.
