An Officer and a Viperman

14th of 19 episodes in DiC season 1. Written by Michael Hill. First aired October 24, 1990.

Previous episode: I Found You...Evy
Next episode: D-Day at Alcatraz, Part 1

While Hawk is away to bring in a new secret weapon, the Battle Axe, Sgt. Slaughter sends Ambush, Pathfinder, and Topside to infiltrate Cobra and discover the source of a leak at their Tokyo base. The three Joes train at Viper Academy and graduate with a mission directly from Cobra Commander, to steal the Battle Axe. Their mission is a success as Cobra captures the Battle Axe as well as Hawk and Sgt. Slaughter. Cobra Commander reveals the source of the leak to the Joe recruits: robotic cockroaches that track Hawk's favorite cookies. The Commander leaves to deal with the new weapon, which has been booby-trapped, and the recruits allow Hawk and Sgt. Slaughter to escape.

Wise to Cobra's leak, Hawk and Sgt. Slaughter discuss plans that lead Cobra to attempt an ambush, while the Joe infiltrators shed their Cobra outfits and get the Battle Axe working. Caught between the two forces, Cobra is defeated. One Range-Viper recruit, having defected under Pathfinder's guidance, joins the Joes in destroying the robotic insects.
