In South America, a disruption in Scoop's communication leads Alley Viper to attack a Lost City well defended by G.I. Joe. Scoop's loyalties shift to the Joes once a glitch gives him access to his file, and he learns that Cobra lied to him about the loss of his family home. Using information provided by Scoop, Alley Viper joins Cobra Commander in seeking Dragonfire energy within the Lost City.
As Cobra uses Scoop's information to bypass the city's traps, Scoop has Sgt. Slaughter's team follow, but Low-Light is suspicious of Scoop's unexplained familiarity with the path. Cobra Commander uses Dragonfire to turn monkeys into giant warriors, just in time to attack Slaughter's team. As the team escapes, Scoop is forced to confess that he is a Crimson Guardsman, and Slaughter has him placed under arrest.
