Cobra Stops the World

4th of 55 episodes in Sunbow season 1. Written by Steve Gerber. First aired September 26, 1985.

Previous episode: Cobra Soundwaves
Next episode: Jungle Trap

Cobra Commander's latest broadcast boasts of capturing nearly all the world's energy sources and threatens to destroy oil tankers in the ocean. Thanks to a diamond-powered cloaking device, the source of Cobra's transmission is untraceable, so the Joes follow every lead they have. Torpedo and Deep Six sink a floating Cobra base but find no clues to the tankers' location. Ace and Duke scout an Amazonian jungle near a diamond mine but are shot down and captured by Major Bludd. Scarlett busts a Cobra safehouse but learns that the tankers' location is known only to Cobra Commander and Destro.

Cobra explodes one of the tankers by remote and threatens to destroy another every hour, but Sparks begins preparing a tracking device that will reveal where Cobra's base is when they send out the next remote signal. Ace and Duke escape near a Cobra-run diamond mine and steal a Cobra Rattler, and Scarlett leads a Joe assault on Cobra's base as soon as Sparks determines its whereabouts. The battle is won when Ace and Duke enter the fight with their stolen Rattler. Cobra's operation is foiled, but Cobra Commander manages to escape.
