+ Ice Cream Soldier

ICE CREAM SOLDIER - a soft, sweet mixture of dairy products frozen and eaten cold.	Char. #283, 160th Joe Team member
Tom-Henry Ragan (American with Irish surname) of Providence, RI. At the mouth of the Providence River, the city is the capital and largest city (pop. 175,255) in RI. Ace, Bullhorn, Dee-Jay, Dogfight, Skystriker, and Major Storm also come from Providence. Hasbro's headquarters is in the suburb of Pawtucket; thus 17 Joes come from this state.

However, it's a perfect cover because when Cobra hears the Joes are sending a guy into battle with a code name like that, they don't expect much more than a sweet-toothed kid with chocolate ice cream stains splattered on his fatigues. Cobra's perceptions of him change fast when they see Ice Cream Soldier fire up his super-charged flamethrower and blast 75 foot streams of flaming gasoline into their foxholes and munitions dumps . . . talk about a firefight! The Ice Cream Soldier is a one-man inferno who scorches those slimy snakes until they melt like hot fudge on a summer sidewalk! Motto: "Eating ice cream without hot fudge is like fighting without ammunition!" Variations: First sold on 1993-style packaging with a normal-sized filecard, then on 1994-style packaging with a baseball card-sized filecard with abbreviated text. Toy Notes: Item #81004.

George A. Roberts (American with Welsh or Saxon English surname) of Everett, MA. Everett (pop. 38,037) is a coastal city in the Boston area. Barbecue, Blocker, and Col. Courage are from Boston itself, and Doc, Side Track, and Wide Scope were also born in the area.

Blindfolded, he'd fly loads of cargo through the rings of Saturn for fun, the kind of fun most pilots would have nightmares about! DUKE knew he couldn't pass up recruiting such a skilled pilot, and after a few hard lessons in military discipline Space Shot became less of a rebel, and more of a hero. + Blackstar

BLACKSTAR - a dark star, one whose surface escape velocity equals or exceeds the speed of light.	Char. #285, 58th Cobra troop type
Note: The 1994 filecard speaks of "this particular COBRA BLACKSTAR," referring to an individual but indicating that there are many Blackstars, much as several Flaming M.O.T.H. figures designate individual members of the Night-Vipers, Range-Vipers, etc.

This particular COBRA BLACKSTAR is the best pilot out of all the Blackstar ranks. He, like all Blackstars, behave as if space was his natural habitat. They have incredible agility in zero gravity zones, climb planetary craters with ease, and instinctively avoid asteroid belts while engaged in stellar dogfights. No one has ever seen a Blackstar up close, and rumors have spread throughout the galaxy that they might not even be human! Toy Notes: Item #81057.

Aron Beck (American with German or English surname) of Fort Worth, TX. Fort Worth (pop. 702,850) is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metroplex of over 6 million people. Fort Worth is the home of Airforce Airguns, Consolidated Robotics, and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. Other Joes from Texas are Maj. Barrage, Iceberg, Law, and Wild Bill.

His mutated body, which may account for his overly hostile attitude, is considered ugly even to other Lunartix aliens more hideous than he. Toy Notes: Item #81061. GEARS - objects with toothed wheels used to pass power from one part of a machine to another.	Char. #290, 163rd Joe Team member
Joseph A. Morrone (American with Italian surname) of Westerly, RI. Westerly (pop. 22,966) is a beachfront town at the northwest corner of Rhode Island. Many other Joes are from the state, most of them from the Providence area. Note: Joe Morrone was Hasbro's VP of Engineering and is credited as a technical advisor for G. I. Joe: The Movie. He is currently at SDI Technologies.

This technological breakthrough earned Gears a place in the National Inventors Hall of Fame, as well as a place on Cobra's top-ten hit list!
