Sunbow Cartoon Notes: Never spoke. The nature of his silence and why he wore a mask were never explained in the cartoon. First appeared in ARAH 1. Total appearances: 45, but rarely played a major role after the first three miniseries. Snake Eyes was seen operating the Dragonfly, Falcon Glider, JUMP, Polar Battle Bear, SHARC, Silver Mirage, Slugger, and VAMP Mark II, as well as the Trubble Bubble, a simple Cobra handcar, and a small transport in a crystal mine. Wore his 1982 outfit for ARAH, in dark blue with a purple visor and pockets, and no gloves. Changed to the 1985 outfit, in dark blue for TROC, Cobra's Creatures, and Jungle Trap; and in dark grey elsewhere, with jet black straps and belt. Uniquely, Snake Eyes had no interaction with Storm Shadow in the Sunbow series. The Arctic Blast commercial used his 1989 outfit.

Timber's Cartoon Notes: Voiced by Frank Welker. Various shades of grey with black striping on his back. Heard in 8 episodes: ARAH Parts 3 and 4, TROC Part 5, TPOD Parts 1 and 2, Cobra's Candidate, The Phantom Brigade, and Where the Reptiles Roam. Timber also appeared in TPOD Parts 3-5 and Cobra's Creatures; and briefly in Red Rocket's Glare. Timber is not included in any opening sequences, and did not appear in the DiC cartoon.

	Snake Eyes is proficient in 12 different unarmed fighting systems (Karate, Kung-Fu, Jujitsu) and is highly skilled in the use of edged weapons. Has received extensive training in mountaineering, underwater demolitions, jungle, desert and arctic survival, and some forms of holistic medicine. Re-releases: Also boxed in a J.C. Penney-exclusive three-pack with Scarlett (82) and Stalker (82). Swivel-arm version also bagged with grey highlights and different accessories at the 1992 convention. Recolored versions were released in Argentina as Cobra Invasor and Cobra Mortal, in Europe as Stalker, and in India as Snake Eyes and Street Hawk. Some parts were used to create the Brazil-exclusive figure Cobra de Aço.

Although he is as equally adept with submachine guns as he is with swords, Snake Eyes is most dangerous and unpredictable when he's armed and cornered. When HAWK went to Snake Eyes' cabin to recruit him for duty with G.I. Joe, the silent Ninja was out hunting rabbits - bare handed! "He's generally regarded as the primo baddest dude of all the G.I. Joes. When we need somebody to sneak up on a class A, major bad guy and pop a can of butt-kick on him, Snake Eyes is the man for the job. 	Snake-Eyes' life has been one of both military discipline and horrific tragedy. He served in Southeast Asia in a Long-Range Recon Patrol. Upon returning home, he learned that his parents and sister had been fatally wounded on their way to the airport to meet him. Subsequently, Snake-Eyes joined the ninja clan which was Storm Shadow's family. This ended in disaster when the head of the family, known as the Hard Master, was assassinated. Storm Shadow was the primary suspect. Later, Snake-Eyes would retreat to a mountain cabin in the High Sierras, turning his back on the world, with only a wolf named Timber as his companion. When the G.I. Joes were being formed, Stalker and Hawk brought him back to be part of the team. In an early Joe mission, Snake-Eyes was involved in a mid-air helicopter collision that left his face horribly scarred. He was virtually unable to speak. Yet, through all of this, Snake-Eyes never abandoned his sense of duty or discipline. He remains, to this day, the ultimate soldier, and a valued member of the G.I. Joe Team. From Snake-Eyes' Journal: "Do I have any regrets about choosing the life of a soldier? None. It has been my continuing privilege to serve in defense of this country and for all it stands [for], with men and women upon whom I can depend utterly. They are the finest this country has to offer. Being a soldier isn't so much a job - it is a trust."
Toy Notes: Carded in a Toys 'R Us-exclusive Commando Team three-pack with Lady Jaye (97) and Storm Shadow (97). Item #28015. Card art and pre-production photos show that this figure was intended to be a repaint of the 1985 version and would have included Timber. Distinguished from version 8 only by small, light brown pockets.

	Snake-Eyes is the perfect weapon, a man of total discipline who honed his combat skills with a Long Range Recon Patrol in Southeast Asia. The squad included Stalker and Storm Shadow, who would later become members of G.I. Joe. His martial arts skills stem from training with the Arashikage ninja clan (relatives of Storm Shadow). Following a horrific accident, his face was scarred and his vocal cords damaged, taking away his ability to speak. Snake-Eyes is a total mystery; almost all that is known about him is that he is the best at whatever he does - #1 on the G.I. Joe "Best of the Best" list. He is proficient with all known NATO weapons and explosives, as well as edged weaponry. Many of his missions are Top Secret and so highly covert that knowledge of their existence is not officially recognized. After many years of highly successful operations, the government decided that Snake-Eyes and the G.I. Joe team had served their purpose, and disbanded the operation. With his partner Scarlett, Snake-Eyes retired to his mountain cabin in the High Sierras. He used the time to find inner peace; however, watching the ills of society from his mountain retreat, he found himself unable to sit back and remain idle. When the word was given that the G.I. Joe team was re-organizing its original members, Snake-Eyes seized the chance to return to duty and once again make a difference. After the team's first encounter with COBRA forces, they found a suitable location and in the tradition of the men and women who served their country before them, raised the flag in their honor, and declared - STARS and STRIPES FOREVER! From General Hawk's Files: "I could say so much about this man, but I can't - it's CLASSIFIED. He is the best I have ever seen, no one can compare. A skilled martial artist and warrior, Snake-Eyes is like a pit bull, nice to family and friends, but fierce to all those that cross his path on the wrong side. I do all I can to keep him leashed. Let him go and he's sure to tear up more than the enemy's yard. I've seen him take out an enemy squad with nothing but a metal spoon. If that doesn't intimidate you, I don't know what would. 	SNAKE EYES owes his life to STORM SHADOW, which makes it even more of a tragedy that they are now bitter enemies. Back when he was a regular soldier in the military, SNAKE EYES served with STORM SHADOW and SGT. STALKER, long before the G.I. JOE Team and the COBRA organization came into their lives. While conducting long-range recon, SNAKE EYES carried two things with him at all times: his M60 machine gun and a battered picture of his twin sister. He never spoke much, remaining silent even when STORM SHADOW offered him a place in the "family business." On one patrol, SNAKE EYES was seriously wounded in an attack, and STORM SHADOW risked his own life to run back through heavy weapons fire to save him. Now, every time SNAKE EYES faces his enemy in combat, he cannot forget that this is the same person who once was his friend.

	SNAKE EYES was an enlisted soldier in the military and served with STORM SHADOW. During one mission, SNAKE EYES was severely wounded when his Long Range Recon Patrol unit got into a firefight with the enemy. He owes his life to STORM SHADOW, who dodged enemy fire to rescue his fellow soldier. SNAKE EYES left the service to study mystic martial arts with the ARASHIKAGE clan, which also trained STORM SHADOW. SNAKE EYES became the star pupil of the HARD MASTER and received the clan's hexagram tattoo upon completing his training. "SNAKE EYES was tempered on the anvil of life until he was as dangerous as a razor-edged sword flailing in the dark. The G.I.
